100% Government Funding For Apprenticeships

FUNDING AT TOP HAIR ACADEMY IN HEREFORDSHIREThe government pays 100% of the funding for your apprentice directly to the training provider. As an employer, you will receive £3000 for new employees (of any age) who start their apprenticeship between 1 April and 30 September 2021.  You can apply for incentive payments for these apprentices from 1 June 2021 to 30 November 2021.

The incentive payment is in addition to the £1,000 employers (with less than 50 employees and with a payroll of less than £3 million) receive for hiring an apprentice who is either aged 16 to 18 years old (or 19-24-year-olds who have been in care or have a local authority care plan).

If your apprentice joined your salon or barbershop between 1 August 2020 and 31 March 2021, you will receive £2,000 for those aged 16-24 and £1,500 for those aged 25 and over.  You must apply for these apprentices before 31 May 2021.

These payments are different to apprenticeship levy funds, so you can spend this amount on anything to support your organisation’s costs. For example, on uniforms, your apprentice’s travel, or their salary. You do not have to pay this money back.  Find out more about Government incentive payments here.

Taking On A Hairdressing Apprentice

benefits of hairdressing apprenticeships at three counties hair academy in hereford

The salon owner is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the apprentice who will be given on-the-job and off-the-job training (at least 20% of their time). Put simply, this equates to working four days in the salon and 1 day with 3 Counties Hair Academy in association with Riverside Training.

As the employer, you must also ensure your apprentice works a minimum of 30 hours per week (plus training); has a contract of employment; receives a payslip; and is paid at least the apprentice wage.

Once you decide to take on an apprentice, you will begin to appreciate the benefits this will bring. Apprentices tend to be loyal which means they will remain with your salon for longer.  You can also grow your own talent, shaping your apprentice to work to your standards. They can also bring new perspectives and ideas, while allowing other team members the chance to shine as they showcase their skills in mentoring the new recruits.
